Let Them Eat.. Vegetables!

Updated: Aug 20, 2020

What to do after diagnosis and before treatments start? Well we wanted to help Sadie keep her life as routine as possible with one exception - FOOD. Nearly all of the books and articles I have read about people who have beat cancer make radical changes in their diet. If you google anti-cancer diet you will get thousands of results. Same with books on Amazon. There are a few trends that I have found in my reading though - no sugar, no meat, no dairy, no processed foods. This means that our family has been eating a primarily raw, vegan diet for the last 3 weeks. Of course there have been some slips (the other day I bought a bag of Cheezies in the grocery store and drove around town for a half hour so I could eat them before I got home!). It's a hard commitment to keep up with. It's easy to find tasty recipes but it does require a lot more prep work. I certainly spend more time in the kitchen now than ever before - chopping, blending, juicing takes time.

Everyday I go to bed with a belief that Sadie's cancer is a little smaller, or at least hasn't spread any further. The count down is on for our trip. We will leave home this Friday and she will start treatments a week from Monday. In the meantime there are a bunch of vegan recipes I want to try.
